Designed and implemented a high-performance timeline zoom infrastructure for Videfy.ai’s web-based video editor. The system eliminates the common 'jumping playhead' issue by anchoring zoom operations to the playhead during precision interactions, while preserving stability through uniform scaling for high-frequency wheel events. UX behavior was benchmarked against industry leaders such as CapCut and Canva to ensure professional editing standards.
Resolved unstable timeline zoom behavior that caused playhead desynchronization, delivering a professional, desktop-grade editing experience in the browser.
Implemented a custom anchoring algorithm based on time-to-pixel ratios calculated before and after scaling. Scroll adjustments are applied within the same animation frame as layout reflow to eliminate flicker. Zoom logic is intentionally split between wheel-based free scaling and slider-based anchored precision, aligning with professional video editor UX standards.
